Awesome radar detector @ an even better price! Just add it to your cart and enjoy the ride for years to come :)
Awesome radar detector @ an even better price! I stalked the internet for months waiting to jump on this 9500ix and Amazon came through on Nov. 30th when it was the "Deal-of-the-Day" @ $349 - Blue Display! Best price I've ever seen or heard for a brand new unit, so I'm more than happy with that aspect. I've only been using the detector for 3 days now but I am so far impressed with its capabilities, sensitivity, update-ability and ease of setup.I started off by plugging the unit to my computer to check for updates and customize the user settings. I first was alerted that I needed to install the Microsoft .net framework software to use the Detector Software, but was guided step by step through this process and after a quick restart all is well. The unit firmware was up-to-date so all I had to update was the traffic cam/speed trap database. I left most of the user preferences at their default besides I switched the sensitivity to "Auto" which adjusts detection based on your speed, really cool to cut down on false alarms searching too far and wide during local driving. Beside that I changed the display mode to "Expert" which shows the individual threats, even several at a time and their respective strength. Oh and I switched the indicator to show just "A" instead of "Auto" to cut down on the visibility of the unit from outside the car.As far as the install, I have the 9500ix hardwired and custom mounted below my rear view mirror. Search products MirrorMount & StealthCord if you are interested in a similar setup. So my initial impression of the unit once I started driving was "I love this thing!", I have been using radar detectors for about 15+ years now, since I started driving, and have been working my way up to a unit like this with several Cobra, Whistler, and Beltronics units along the way. This 9500ix is by far the most advanced and effective of them all, most recently coming from a Bel Pro RX55. Anyway, on the first drive the unit was alerting in the usual spots as well as many new ones on my regular drive to work. That showed me that the sensitivity is much greater than the others and by day 2 the unit was automatically logging and locking out these false alerts (automatic doors mostly) with GPS technology to never bother me with them again, sweet! Have yet to experience the speed trap or speed camera warnings from the database but I have no doubts in its performance. My advice is search around, stalk this unit, and jump on it when the price is right, but realistically even at MSRP with even one solid "speeding" save this unit will pay for itself between the ticket and insurance points issued. We all find ourselves above the speed limit even if it's only 5-10 MPH once in a while; I know I learned the hard way years ago, so better safe than sorry. As far as Laser protection, forget it, if used they got your speed in 1/10 of a second so the detector is only going to tell you that there's a ticket coming, but for everyday lazy cops with radar traps, speed cameras and red light cameras a tool like the Escort 9500ix is invaluable. Based on the fact that you can update, customize and adjust this unit, it's been tried, tested and reviewed as a top performer for years, the guesswork is over, just add it to your cart and enjoy the ride for years to come :)

Great detector , Eliminates false alerts , Long range!
I've had this detector for a couple months now, Here's the good and the bad.The Good:1. Eliminates 99% of false alerts , but not at first.... The first week or two you will receive a lot of false alerts. Once the detector programs out these false alerts, you will not longer receive false alerts, and you most certainly will know when you receive a real threat on the detector.2. Shows the vehicles current speed at the time of the threat detection. This was a plus for me. It allows me to quickly adjust my speed if necessary.3. Expert meter feature allows me to quickly distinguish between how many threats I am picking up and how strong the signals are. Using this feature (combined with the auto-learn filtering) I can quickly distinguish between a false threat and a true threat. You will be able too as well.4. Auto mute feature - I really enjoy this feature as well... It automatically reduces the volume of the detector a few seconds after a threat has been detected. The reason I like this feature is that it allows me to keep my detector volume turned up high so that even when I am listing to music or riding with the windows down, the detector will quickly get my attention so that I can adjust my speed, if necessary. Then the volume will reduce to a level that won't become annoying. It's a great feature. The Bad:1. It takes a couple weeks of daily driving in your city to get all the false alerts locked out. Keep in mind that you have to drive in all directions of the road to lockout all the false alerts from every angle.2. No rear radar detection. However.... the detector performs so well anyway, I'm not sure it's needed.Conclusion.I was very skeptical about spending this kind of money on a radar detector. Now I couldn't imagine driving without it...Worth the money. Glad I took the risk and bought it.I took a video of MY Escort 9500iX , detecting a KA radar threat (police officer) at a very long distance. You can watch it on YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WySon4DQ8d8UPDATE: 12/13/2015 Still have the radar detector and its working wonderfully. I couldn't imagine driving with out it....

Escort Passport 9500IX Works Well - 5 Stars For This One!
The main reason I chose the 9500IX is because of the extended long range capabilities. I drive a lengthy rural commute on a daily basis. I am normally safe, but State Bulls and Sheriff's randomly show up. Usually they are sitting on the side of the road or coming towards me. The distance on the early notification is absolutely incredible! Other motorists down the road probably wonder why I slow down suddenly! A mile or so, up the road they either see a cop sitting on the side of the road pulling radar, or driving towards them.BOOM! I have had this bad boy only two weeks now, and it has saved my skin at least a dozen times! I used this in a rural area and on a major Interstate. It performed well in both arenas. The anti-false signal memory works well, too. I will definitely be subscribing to the known speed trap updates. The price of this unit is only a drop in the bucket. If it saves me from one ticket, it has paid for itself.Update: I found a much better detector mount than the factory issue original. I am recommending the BELTRONICS & ESCORT RADAR DETECTOR WINDSHIELD Bracket Mount w/3 clear suction cups from Amazon for $12.95! That is the model number #1001.One word of warning: this device will not do everything. You still need to remain cognizant of what is going on around you. Be aware of your surroundings. I suppose it is possible that an instant on laser gun may be triggered, and catch you by surprise. I have not had that happen yet, and pray it will not.I had a Passport years ago. The industry improvements that have been made since then are really awesome! The only other thing: I would like to get this mirror mounted but am not sure which apparatus might work the best on a 2015 Honda Accord. Suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you good people at Escort!

Passport 9500IX
It works great, better than my previous model. It came with the smart cord, although advertised that it didn't, so I bought one, and now have two.

Great purchase!
I love this radar, very accurate!!! This is my second radar I’ve owned, the first one I owned for over 8 years so it’s more of an investment for me. This one with the newer technology is amazing. And the price is great too!

Pays off in a matter of months.
I can't say it's perfect, a few false alarms here and there. But the store feature for these false triggers helps eliminate this problem. Saved my butt many times, on the freeway and in town, and I never drive without out now. If you accept the fact that this radar detector may rarely make a false alarm (after months of learning your driving routes), then overall this is a good investment of a detector. Also, it is no where near a nuisance compared to my previous detectors (cobra).

Ive had several they are the best you can get
These detectors are ranked at the top and for under $00 you cant go wrong they last for ever to if it wasn't for theft you would never need another

Even in the mountains has great range. Usually has you looking for a couple km for the popo. Partially mutes too after detection which is nice
