DC Comics Signature Collection Wally West The Flash Figure

Well articulated action figure of a former Flash
I had to have this. It was Wally West. Imho the best Flash ever. (If only DC cared half as much.)Anyway, this is like most Mattel figures more chunky looking than the DC Direct ones. Probably because it's got moveable joints everywhere you could reasonably expect in an action figure. :)Could it have been better? Yep. Flash figures should not be bulky like this. Wish his hands were not forming fists. Wish his belt was painted on better so that it looked less...I dunno...stunted.But hey, it's Wally and not a Barry being called "Wally". Says so on the package bio and everything. If you want this particular character there isn't much in the way of options.Update: It's April 2018 now and despite Wally being a part of 2016's Rebirth.... still no Wally West action figure in a Rebirth costume being advertised down the pike. You can get Barry Allens galore including two phony "Barry's" (TV and Movie), you can even get bad guy reverse Flashes; but no Wally West Mark One version with his luscious red hair flowing in the wind. It's a danged crime, I say. C'mon, DC!

Very good action figure
Very good action figure. When it comes to the Flash, I'm a fan but more along the lines of being a fan of the Barry Allen Flash. But I have read some stories about Wally West as Kid Flash and as the Flash I think he's a great Flash. Nice for the people at Mattel to create this version of the Flash. Wally West as the Flash isn't that much of a difference as the Barry Allen Flash but apparently DC Signature Collection creates a difference.DC Universe Classics Barry Allen Flash is a straight up red, Wally's is a much shinier red coat, with a golden paint look instead of the yellow of Barry. The head is also different with Wally's mouth curled in a smirk compared to Barry's simple expression. The eyes on Barry are blue with Wally's apparently so immersed in the Speed Force that they appear white (though I would have liked it if they kept them green like in the comics or more appropriately in the Kid Flash action figure). The Mercury wings on the side of the head look a bit different but all in all its an acceptable differences to be considered a different figure.Very good nevertheless.

Wally!!!!!!!!!!!
Wally West was and it a great character. I miss him, now that he's not center-stage and now that they're completely changing him. This is a nice figure, highly detailed and accurate. My problem with this entire line is that the heads are too small, in fact out of proportion.

Wally West is finally in DCUC
Before I review the toy I will explain some history about this figure. For years Mattel has been making 6 inch figures of DC Comics characters. The line lasted for 20 retails waves under the name "DC Universe Classics." The range of figures included icons like Batman and lesser known characters like Kamandi. In recent times Mattel has changed the retail line to the "DC Unlimited" or "Batman Unlimited" lines which currently seem to nly have very known and iconics characters. Mattel created the "Club Infinite Earths" subscription service to provide an outlet for fan demanded figures that wouldn't fit in the current retail vision. These figures can only be purchased through Mattel's collector website "Matty Collector" or from people that bought their figures there.May 2013's figure is Wally West as the Flash. The original Flash was Jay Garrick. The second, and arguably most famous Flash is Barry Allen from the 1960s-1980s (and he has been brought back in recent years). The third Flash is Wally West, arguably the most known Flash (its debatable between him and Allen depending on who you ask). Wally West was the Flash from approximately 1985-2008 or so and his persona has been used in many cartoons including the famous JLU cartoon. Wally West started as Kid Flash, Barry Allen's sidekick, and grew up to become the Flash.Wally West Flash in DC Universe Classics form was never made until now. His placement in the subscription has mixed reviews. Some are happy just to get him, while some are angry that an icon like the Flash is exactly what should be made in retail under the "DC Unlimited" banner. If you are looking for a Flash figure, this may not be the cheapest version for you. There have been plenty of variations of Barry Allen that have been made in the DCUC series. But if you want Wally West specifically, this is the only one they have made.As for the figure itself. There were concerns that it would look almost just like Toys R' Us' exclusive Barry Allen Flash figure. It does not. The red used for the TRU Allen Flash is a candy apple red, while this red may have a tint of orange to it. The Wally West Flash has yellow parts that are kind of golden looking while the TRU Allen Flash has yellow parts that are more bronze like. West Flash a different head sculpt with a smirk on his face and white lenses painted on the mask to hide his eyes, all things that make him sem more like Wally West. West's lightning bolts are painted on in the pattern Wally West used while wearing the Flash and his ear pieces are slightly bigger than the previous Flash figures. He also lacks the wings on the boots as he should.Pros: He is a very nice looking figure.Cons:1) He comes with 0 accessories. Something would have been nice. a Swappable unmasked head or at least lightning effect pieces that could fit on his arms.2) Getting him is great, it would have been better to have gotten him in retail years ago for about $15.
