Finger Phonics book 1

I bought this series to read with my 4 year old son. They are not story books but still a good buy. There is plenty on each page to discuss & a good introduction to early phonics. They are board books so good & sturdy. My son loves then & will often bring them over to me for us to look at together. A good buy.

I teach a group of three 3-4 year olds. I have been using the Jolly Songs book and my own laminated letter cards to introduce the letters one at a time. I read about this book and thought I'd give it a try to save time making and laminating my own cards. It's so cheap that it's hardly worth making my own cards!! I tried it out yesterday and the kids loved it!! Even the boy who is not interested in letters or phonics at all pushed his way to the front to have a go. Each page is made of 2 sheets of cardboard and the top sheet is cut away so the kids can trace the letter with their fingers. It features all the familiar characters like Inky the mouse and the pink pig cake. At the back there are some words made up from letters in the book so the kids can practice reading. I would highly recommend this series to anyone teaching small children. Not only did the kids enjoy it, but their parents (the ones paying for the lessons!) loved it too.

これこそJolly Phonics！という本です。 前ページカラーで、おまけに1ページが分厚い厚紙でできているので、 小さいお子さんにもぴったりです。 学校で子どもたちが使用しても、破れずに長持ちします。 見開き2ページごとに一つの文字が紹介されています。 Sを習う時には、Snakeの絵が大きく紹介され（ここで出てくるSnake は、 Jolly Phonics の大事な仲間）、Sから始まる単語が絵で紹介されています。 sun, sand, snail, spider, stick などなど。 お子さんと一緒に探してみるのも楽しいと思います。 また、3〜4つほどその文字を使った単語も文字で紹介されています。絵の中の ものの単語がわからなくても、この単語を読みながら絵を探すということもできます。 各文字ごとに文字の練習ができるようにもなっています。文字の形をした溝が掘ってあり、 その溝に指を滑らせて正しい書き方で文字を練習することができます。 文字と音をアクションでリンクして覚えていくことを目的としているため、 どうやってそのアクションを教えていくかも各文字ごとに紹介されています。 イギリスの学校では4〜5歳児のクラスでこの教材を使用していますが、子どもたちは 驚くくらいアクションで音と文字を覚えていきます。 イラストがかわいくて、イギリスの文化を知るにもいい本だと思います。 私が日本人の子どもたちにフォニックスを教えるときも、必ず使用する本です。 年齢が大きいお子さんでも楽しんでいます。
