How to fit the blade and use the knife
Before buying this knife I read the mixed reviews, some stating it was an atrocious knife, the blade would not stay fixed or was hard to fix into the knife but my experience with it is that it is an extremely well made easy to use utility knife. The blade which was located in the handle (pull back the yellow catch to open) was installed into its working position by sliding the top sliding button to the unlock position (about halfway along) then while pressing the yellow release button on the side of the knife, insert the blade until it locks in. Pull back the top sliding button to store the blade or push forwards to ‘open’ the blade for use. Simples

as the printed 'picture instructions' are very poor. The blade inserts
A difficult one to rate, as I was unable to get the blade to seat itself, using the 'quick change' facility. I have looked on-line for guidance, as the printed 'picture instructions' are very poor. The blade inserts, then there is an audible click, giving the impression that is fitted, but the blade falls out at the slightest pressure.A good looking utility knife, with the storage facility in the handle for up to 10 blades, completely spoiled by the poor instructions and (my) inability to site the blade correctly.A complete waste of money and time. Dreadful product. I will not purchase Irwin tools again.

How many fingers can you afford to slice off?
Totally and utterly useless! I'd give it -1 star, if I could. After 15 minutes trying to get a blade into the handle, even using heavy duty pliers to try to budge that yellow button, I binned it in sheer disgust. The standard 'Stanley' design may be a pig to put back together, but at least it works.

MfG Klaus Steines
