First impressions - no way would this (light pink) blind do an adequate job - surely the light would easily pass through such a pale-coloured and relatively thin material. Happy to say I was totally and utterly wrong! Daytime became night time as soon as it was in place - perfect!As for the actual DIY bit - I wasn't exactly relishing the prospect of putting it up as I am to DIY what Ronnie Corbett is to heavyweight boxing, but it literally took me 20 minutes start to finish. I didn't need to trim the width, which obviously kept things a bit simpler. The instructions supplied are brief but adequate - a little common sense combined with reasonably accurate measuring is all it takes to do the job.I write this review at 7am on a bright summer morning in bed. Just a few days back my 3 year-old daughter would have already been up for an hour and we'd all have been woken by her constant "It's morning everyone!" announcements and loud playing noises from her bedroom! But now all I hear is silence! It worked! Think I'll go back to sleep!

We bought this as, like a previous reviewer, had purchased one from The Range, which arrived bent as it wasn't packed very well (arrived wrapped in a plastic bag)!! Returned that one to the store and exchanged it for another which, when hung, didn't roll out well and was basically rubbish. The blind from this seller arrived extremely well packed in strong cardboard; there was no chance of it getting damaged at all. It arrived quickly and when fitted in our kitchen, was far superior the the one from Range. Brilliant quality blind, runs smoothly and looks classy. I would definitely purchase from this seller again and no more purchases from outlets that sell tat!!!! Thank you :-)

I have never had so much trouble hanging a blind in all of my life! 2 hours! The main body of the blind is an aluminum so it really isn't easy to cut! Plastic would have been so much better! edges are sharp and after three attempts to hang I was hacking away at it! Finally got it up only to find when I pulled it the connector piece which binds the two pull end together was at the top of the blind and wouldn't go through the pull mechanism, cue taking the flipping thing down again! and pulling the whole thing out, unraveling the blind and refit the blind. Then when I pulled it up the thing worked!The blind it's self if ok for the lovely and dark but I was going to buy another two for my bedroom, due to the fitting I am going to look at other alternatives! My son's Venetians were so much easier!

The blind material and tube are okay, the area of concern is the pull draw string, which is fitted together with a plastic connector, one inserts the ball end of the string into the connector to make the loop complete, however, this is very weak, pulling on it in the wrong place - as often happens in the dark - results not in the draw string rotating the blind, but the string clicking open and dropping into the dark. This is exacerbated by the string end without the connector then being able to come straight through the roller mechanism, leaving you with no string on the blind at all.It's simply solved, by tying the two ends of the cord together, or taping the connector over, however, it was a bit of a pain when it first happened.The fittings are good, and easy to fit into a wall, either vertically or horizontally.Cutting the blind material was easy, it left no frayed edges, cutting the tub required nothing more than a junior hacksaw and a steady hand.
