Ok, so i know these don't say they are rated for live wires, but I am an industrial electrician. These strippers seem designed to do such. I had the craftsman branded ones exactly the same as these, and they lasted me 4 years. the padded, insulated center is a great insulated rest for your thumb to give you good leverage. The only reason my other ones don't work is because the hinge seized up from moisture and rust. other then that, these things have been through hell and back, and have been used as pliers, small bolt shears, and many other uses they weren't initially intended for. I had to ask out help to find these things as a non-craftsmen brand, and here they are!

Works well for all the wire sizes. Has a thumb groove to help strip wires. The plastic handles make great insulators. The handles are shaped to fit nicely in the hand. Not really fond of the slide lock.

First of all strippers don't have the Ideal brand name on them anywhere. They maybe fake or just not good quality. I am an Electrician and have better strippers that cost much less. The locking mechanism fell apart first week. Would like to get refund but elapsed return policy.

i'm an electrician and these are my favorite strippers on the amazon. the cover over the hinge makes it incredibly easy to get leverage when stripping out wire that does not want to cooperate. it has a curved handle which i prefer. the only way it could be better is if it actually had the smaller sized hole on this pair and i didnt have buy a second smaller pair with a straight handle for my number 18 wire.

Very useful wire strippers. Cutting edge retains integrity for a long time. Worth every dollar.

Very comfortable to use for extended periods of time and extremly sharp. They looked and felt a little 'cheap' at first especially for $30 bucks but after using them my opinion changed. They are worth the premium price. The seem to be a bit more compact when closed and locked than other brands so they take up less room in the tool bag.

This makes my husband's job easier.
