Pretty easy to install depending on your machine's body panels. So far it has been super helpful at tracking hours for oil changes. Tach RPM function has a few settings to get you close but apparently requires some fine tuning with # of wraps aroung the spark plug wire

Very well designed, works perfectly on a Champion 2500 (201490) inverter generator, wrapped the wire five times around the spark plug wire. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

So far it’s lasting pretty good. The only negative is that it doesn’t seem to hold up an outdoor use very well but has lasted me a while.

Update after a week of use: downgraded due to reliability. The unit does not hold the preset for my engine so the rpm reading is doubled and not accurate. It can be reset but that is a nuisance during use. Disappointing. Great price and good quality except for the wire to wrap around the spark plug wire as a pickup. It’s not stiff enough to stay in place. Mickey Moused the install with two wire ties to keep it on the plug wire. That shouldn’t be necessary. It seems to work well with good instructions to program for my engine a 14 HP Kawasaki on a brush cutter

I bought this to ensure the engine RPM remained within a valid range after I replaced the carburetor. Being able to confirm the engine RPM is reassuring, and the Cumulative Hours of Operation and Hours Countdown Before Scheduled Maintenance features are an added bonus. I am very pleased with this product. The written installation and setup steps were good enough. I took care to wrap the wire tightly around the ignition cable 5 times, keeping it secure with the included zip ties. It takes some care (and more zip ties) to keep the wire away from direct contact with the engine or muffler. I found a place on the dash to stick the meter on using the included double-stick foam tape. Initially I set the mode to 1P2R (1 spark Pulse per 2 Revolutions), but that gave me RPM readings of 6400 at full throttle. So I switched the mode to 1P1R and started getting normal readings of 3200 or so at full throttle.

This is a pile of junk, pure waste of money and time. RPM worked for few second then off, then some on then off for a second then back off. Now nothing. Followed directions all the way. Defective cheap item getting sent back. I’ll buy a real tac instead of this Mickey mouse trash. Left 1 star because it won’t allow no stars
