Q: Would this be useable as a stool for my kids to reach the sink as well? I’d rather not have two stools in the bathroom.

Hello, I wouldn't use it as a kids stool. Although it is sturdy enough to support the legs while sitting in the toilet, I don't think it can hold someone weighting over 40 pounds standing on it. I tried to get weight limit specs on this but I could not find additional information.
