Yes. I use it as a switch to kill the battery circuit on my tractor. BTW. It's well built and sturdy.

Q: The lugs are 1/2" the biggest cables avaiable are 5/16" & is this switch overkill for a average car?

The average car will typically use the Fastronix 303-001 Master Disconnect Switch which is rated to 180A continuous and 1000A intermittent, however the estimated current load will ultimately determine which disconnect switch you should use.

Q: How do you install on a 08 frieightliner d60 4 battery setup?

I put these disconnects on a 4 battery setup on a Peterbilt. Freightliner is no different. Because of the excessive current flowing during starting, I split the batteries and put two switches on, one for each set of two batteries. I had to make some special cables, but it all works very well.
