Finally - the heavy undershirt I've been looking for!
I've been a Hanes wearer for life. Tagless, always decent quality, good price. But over the years the shirts have gotten thinner and began to lose their shape around the collar quicker. This time around I thought I'd search for something heavier. In my mind a plain t-shirt that was closer to the quality of a screen printed shirt you might wear out and about on a summer day, but with no printing on it. Something to use as an undershirt but that felt more substantial. I tried several: * Hanes ComfortCool - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002X78TJM/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 * Hanes ComfortBlend - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007VDOKB4/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 * Polo Crew Necks - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006IIXEGA/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 None of the above met my criteria. They were ok at best, and definitely felt chincy. I was particularly disappointed in the Polos because they were so expensive. I knew I would be paying for the brand name, but I hoped in my experiment the extreme premium would still result in a heavier shirt. Wrong. The stitching was a little bit nicer and the collar laid very flat, but still it was like wearing high-end cheesecloth. And then I tried the Russells. My gosh, where have you been all my life? Thick enough to be worn on its own, but not too thick to be worn under another shirt. Absolutely perfect size and cut, and bright color. I'm a happy convert. Thank you Russell.

GREAT LIGHTWEIGHT WORKOUT SHIRT
Live in subtropical climate and this product fits the bill for a lightweight casual, workout or yardwork and or pajama top shirt. If you are looking for something heavier this probably is not for you. Size is true to fit. I normally wear a large shirt and this shirt fits well not too loose but enough to allow for movement for your favorite workout routines. Fabric material is 100% cotton which breathes well unlike many of the polyester ones on the market Follow laundry instructions cool or warm water and no high heat in dryer and it probably -it has for me - will retain its original purchase size. Purchased many RUSSELL T-Shirts and overall happy with quality and value.

My Husband is Happy with These Shirts!
My husband likes to wear comfortable shirts when he comes home from work and most of his were pretty worn out. He's a big guy and it's hard to find shirts that fit him without paying a lot of money. Basically, he just wanted some plain shirts for relaxing in at home or using for when he does yard work. I searched on here and found these in his size so we ordered one to see how he liked it. This shirt made by Russell is a pretty good quality shirt! It's made of 100% cotton so it's breathable and fairly comfortable. It felt a bit scratchy when we got it but I've washed it several times already and it's softening up nicely. This shirt is made in El Salvador. My husband is a fairly big guy and weighs about 350 pounds. He usually wears a 4XL so we ordered a 4XL in this shirt for him. It fits him very well. If he lifts his arms, his belly shows but this shirt also doesn't have the tall length. The length from the neckline to the bottom of the shirt is 29 inches in the front for the 4XL. I originally got him the navy shirt and he liked it enough that we also bought him the maroon and dark green colors. The only other color in his size was white at the time and I refuse to buy him white since he's also pretty messy. Overall, we are fairly happy with this shirt! My husband says they are comfortable and I feel they wash up nicely. Since they are 100% cotton (not pre-shrunk), they may shrink a bit but we haven't noticed too much shrinking. For the price, we are happy with these shirts and glad we found them! There aren't any pockets on them and they would be great for anyone who wants a basic, plain color shirt!

Great basic tee-shirt, durable
After several washings both in the washing machine as well as tumble dry (low heat), I would like to say that I just ordered a second pair of these Russell Athletic Men's basic tee-shirt. These are durable! They are not flimsy thin shirts like you would use as an undershirt. Instead these are great for wearing on their own. What are they good for? Wear them on hot summer days around the house, and they are also perfect for the gym. In fact, that's what Russell excels in, making clothes that are tailored for gym use. These are durable, but not as thick or heavy as a polo dress shirt. These are also very casual looking, so you don't want to use these as a substitute for a more dressy polo shirt. Use these for the gym, but don't wear these if you are going out to dinner at a nice restaurant.

From Blue Shirt to Blue Person
The fit was OK. Got some huge T shirts to sleep in and such. But that doesn't really matter. Whoever made these shirts did not fix the dye. The dark blue dye got all over the person, in every conceivable place, stained their skin, and smeared the sheets with dark blue dye, too, from sleeping on them. The dye got in ears, under fingernails, and on towels from washing and drying hands. And by the way, before it was ever worn, the shirt was washed twice, then dried and put away. Two of the Navy blue Russell Athletic Men's T shirts were ordered and both bled the blue dye profusely. What type of factory that makes T shirts does not know that you have to fix the dye before you are done? Beware of this product. Since the shirt is nice and roomy, we are going to try to fix the dye and then wash it in a laundry load with a color grabbing product. That is an expenditure of $25 more dollars for those products. It never occurred to me that a name brand product would do this. Stop cutting costs please, and make these somewhere that knows what they are doing.

So-so, a decent T-shirt but a disappointment if you are expecting the older quality version
I've bought Russell T-Shirts off and on for years, usually when I want something for athletic wear -- long term, durable, comfortable stuff. The other t-Shirts I buy are for yard work, painting and such -- disposable when they get grungy or stained but useful for short term stuff. My latest purchase of Russell T-shirts is fine in terms of fit and the quality (I picked up three and they are consistent), is no worse than what I'd get from other manufactures for about the same price, but really not up to quality the standard Russell set years ago. These are thinner shirts and they have the feel of a cheep "T". Of course, The shirts don't cost a lot so maybe this newer version will become my disposable flavor? I don't expect I will buy Russell shirts when I want something quality and durable.

Good quality
I ordered 2 Russell Athletic Men's Basic T-Shirts, size M, color royal blue. Amazon wrote back that the package would arrive on the 16th this month, but actually it arrived already on the 9th – i.e. one weak ahead of time. I have not tried it on yet, but my immediate impression is that this is a high quality product. You can tell from the very professional way it has been packaged, and the very smooth look and feel of the texture. I know it will fit well, because I compared it to a "Chouinard Adult Heavyweight Cotton Tee - Seafoam PgmDye - M" that I purchased a couple of months earlier, where the latter is exactly the right size. Well, the measurements of the two T-shirts coincide almost exactly, up to a quarter of an inch. In fact the RA measures 21 inches, or 53 cm, across the chest from armpit to armpit, and so does the CC , the latter after washing and wearing a couple of times. The material of the RA feels somewhat thinner than that of the CC, and this is confirmed by weighing: RA shirt weight = 175 grams CC shirt weight = 210 grams And so the weighing confirms the impression that the CC material is thicker (by ca. 20 percent).

Great shirt - Well made - Nice fit - Looks nice.
Update: After the first washing the shirt still looks new and has the same great fit. Looking at the construction - the seams are very well sewn with no loose threads or missed stitches.I like these shirts better than the "beefy" ones made by a different manufacturer. The shirts are "tagless" at the top of the shirt and the only minor complaint that I have is the stiff tag on the very inside bottom of the shirt. There is a tag which lists the fabric content and washing instructions. As the shirt is washed more the tag will get softer and if it still bothers me I will just cut it off. Shirt fits exactly as expected - the Amazon states it is 53% Polyester and 47% cotton but the tag on the shirt states it is 50/50. (no big deal). Only time will tell if the shirt shrinks (as some of my t-shirts from another manufacturer - and time will tell if the shirt holds its color.
