Closest to the one I read back 48 years ago. More authentic!
This particular version of the diary is more authentic than the typical definitive edition commonly found on book shelves today. This is very close to “The Diary Of A Young Girl” that I read when I was 12. I am 60 years old now and am very happy this version is available for I do not care for the seemingly emptier more modern version. The version that was edited by Anne herself but then by Otto her father. In this particular version more information is given. Still, a lot of stuff is missing. I clearly recall parts from the version I read around 1969 have been removed. However this is a close cigar. To read the whole absolute diary one would go to the Critical Edition but it’s like a complete college course regarding the diary, it’s authenticity, translations, etc. I have that edition but am not interested in all the investigational information to determine if the diary is legit. The researchers did conclude that yes, it indeed it is. I cannot find the version I read in 1969 but to try and pull it out from the Critical Edition is difficult as it takes away her feel, her energy, some of her personality. Like I said, it’s more like a college course. My desire is to just simply read the diary. To get to know Anne all over again. So I definitely advise readers to go to this unabridged version. I am thrillled to have found it. If you want to enjoy Anne and get to enjoy her personality this is the best choice available today. Happy reading! I give it 5 stars.

I read this prior to a visit to the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam. I'm glad I did.
I bought "The Diary of Anne Frank: The Critical Edition", but found it is too analytical and detached. This is the more common version, and in this you'll come to know a new and unforgettable friend.I knew the story of course, but I never read her book until I planned to add her house in Amsterdam to my recent trip to Europe. This is the story of a remarkable young girl of 13 and 14 years (during most of her writing). She was taken shortly after her 15th birthday and died soon after. When I walked through the house I felt so familiar with it that each step was not new to me. Everything except one minor detail in the kitchen was as I envisioned it.If you would like to know this wonderful friend that you can never meet, read this book. I suspect you will complete this story feeling sad at the loss of a this incredible young girl.

Many Formatting Errors
While it remains true that this profound account of the events of World War II bring the era to life. This particular version has quite a few formatting errors to be reckoned with. My rating, therefore, is in regard to the product itself, not the nature of the narrative. I believe the book has been discussed enough in that regard. My opinion is neither here nor there on the matter, as most adults have already formed their own.

GREAT!
Awesome book is in great conditions, it is used and has a stain at the top but nothing too noticeable or that might interfere with reading it. Also arrived waaay before it was supposed to! I remember in 8th great we focused more in the Holocaust in my English class, and I believe we might have read portions of Anne's diary but never completely, maybe even watched a film... Can't remember well... Anyways now with quarantine I have more time to read this book and others! If you are interested in the Holocaust I recommend you read "Between Shades of Gray".

Interestinsg history
A great way to know what it was like to be a Jew in hiding during WW II from the Nazis. To be confined in a small apartment with 7 others for 2 1/2 yrs. created many problems. Well written by a young teenager. Thankful we have this true book that tells us the story of what it was really like.

So sweet and amazing!
The Diary of Anne Frank was the book that got me into reading when I was younger and now my cousin's daughter is the same age I was when I picked it up. When she asked for The Diary of Anne Frank for her birthday, I was so excited to get it for her. The version indology books sent me was perfect! They made it all the more special with a deluxe version and a beautiful cover (I ordered a plain harback) so thank you and I really appreciate it. The birthday girl absolutely loved it and so did I.I look forward to purchasing more books from Indology Books in the future.

I know she didnt desire for her diary to become public but it has helped modern young adults understand and relate to what it was like to be a jew living through the holocaust
Anne's story is definitely one worth checking out. She and her family did all they could to escape the nazis and ultimately failed with the exception of Otto Frank. Her diary is filled with honesty, humor, and relatability. I know she didnt desire for her diary to become public but it has helped modern young adults understand and relate to what it was like to be a jew living through the holocaust. I also recommend the uncut version as it allows the readers to fully connect with Anne's inner feelings.

Harrowing insight into life in hiding from the SS
This is a real insight to life as a Jewish child growing up in occupied Holland during the SS and Hitler's terrifying reign over Europe. This is a subject close to my heart so i.have always wanted.to read this book
