Yes it will stay securely closed as it snaps closed. Additionally please take into consideration that each pencil is securely placed in its own loop that is about two inches in length and the bottom of the pencils are secured in a leather fold over from the bottom of the case. This case is great as on the left hand side there are wider loops to secure your erasers and pencil sharpeners. You can feel safe in transporting your pencils where ever you need to go.

Q: Just placed an order and want to confirm this was make in UK. Item says, but I'm hearing of dissatisfied customers with some Derwent made in China-

Mine lacks any mark to identify the origin. Some people hate on products Made in China simply because they are Made in China without any objective assessment of quality. For better or for worse, it seems that the vast majority of consumer products on this planet are manufactured in China, so being made in China doesn't necessarily mean junk. As I said, mine doesn't have any origin mark. It is of fine quality. I mentioned in my review that I wished that the strap was adjustable, and that sentiment remains. This is a rugged item with high quality. I doubt that you will be disappointed, regardless of the origin.

It is and it certainly protects the pencils very well. Derwent means quality.

Q: Would this case hold Pigma Micron pens?

Yes, they fit very well in mine.
