Emberlit fireant is by far the best small multi fuel burner
I collect backpacking stoves and own many brands of all types and I always find the Emberlit stoves to be the most efficient. From packability standpoint the Emberlit stoves excel and the fireant is tops in this category. The light weight titanium makes this an extremely compact less than 3 oz package. Compare the size and weight to a stainless steel hinged wood burner of the same size and you will immediately feel the difference. The hinged stainless steel stoves are quick to deploy but also are exreamly heavy and actually far more unstable due to the wire leg supports. Both work well but in the packability and use the fireant wins hands down. The competitive hinged versions do offer quick set up and take down when compared to the fireant but after initial use the assembly of the Emberlit product is quick and simple. The ability to use multiple fuels again nothing new to the market with the fireant, the difference is the Emberlit product does this task in a more elegant fashion with less components. Some of the competitive stoves of this size require three or more additional small parts to accomplish the multi fuel task. The fireant has the most effective use of the fire box when compared to the competitive stoves, side loading and plenty of draft to burn even damp wood, the Emberlit stove typically require less stroking to keep a nice burn going. The addition of Trangia burner is a little tricky the first time but not difficult, the fuel plate works will with solid fuels and the slots will also accept a live fire burner if needed. The Emberlit products are not the top of the line in engineering prowess, they are simple effective and efficient. I have a few stoves that are actually a type of titanium origami and to be frank I don't want to think extensively when assembling my stove, I just want to cook my food and get on with my time outdoors and the Emberlit products excel at that task. As for the folks that complain about sharp edges ... really yea there may or may not be some sharp edges and yes this is light thin metal we are dealing with so be careful and take precautions as you should with any sharp objects, keep in mind the act of starting, maintaining and extinguishing a fire in the outdoors is also a dangerous task that requires some thought and precautions. The Emberlit Ti fireant is no more expensive than the folding stainless steel stoves, less expensive when compared the white gas stoves and Even less expensive than the Chinese round wood gas stoves everyone seems to like for some reason. Emberlit is a made in the USA product that just works ... the fireant will have a permanent place in my EDC bag.

Does exactly what it's supposed to, super light and compact.
Super lightweight and very easy to use. If you understand the limitations of a wood burning stove like this, you'll be happy with it because it's so light and compact compared to others. It goes together easily, is stable as long as you have a good flat surface, and will boil water nearly as fast as its gas counterparts. Like all small folding stoves, it requires constant attention to keep the fire steady and its really a 1-person stove. I did not have any issues with the sharpness of the panels. Given how thin it is, you probably could cut yourself if you try to muscle the pieces together but I did not have a problem with it. It also cleaned up fairly easily.

Light, but not what was stated.
Pros -Very Stable. Once assembled it has a very tight fit so nothing really wobbles or feels loose. -Lightweight for a wood stove -Versatile with options for wood, alcohol or solid fuels. Cons -Could use a better edge finish out from the factory. As others have said, use some sandpaper to get rid of any sharp edges. -You will need a Trangia style alcohol burner to use which is not so lightweight compared to other options. -Weight of the stove itself is more than the 2.8 oz stated in the listing. On my calibrated scale, it weighs in at 3.9 oz with all components and its sack. Sack was about 10 grams, fuel tray for solid fuel was another 9 grams. Stove itself without the other components was 93 grams, which is 3.28 oz. Hope this helps people that may or may not want it based on weight. I still find it light for a wood stove and am happy with its versatility. An improved version or nice extra would be a simple alcohol cup that fits the slots in the stove at the top. I may see about a hanger system for a cat food can burner.

Efficient, Compact, Versatile.
This little stove not only met but exceeded my expectations. It weighs about as much as a standard Benchmade Mini-Griptilian which for a multi-fuel stove is amazing, it also folds flat so it doesn't make much of a print and is pretty much stowable anywhere. The Fireant's biggest attribute is it's versatility in that it is a multi-fuel compatible stove, you are able to use solid fuel tabs such as Esbit/Trioxane bars, I have an Esbit alcohol burner and it works perfectly by locking the rim of the burner to the top slots of the Fireant, and obviously it burns wood. Really it is a firebox stove that you will be able to use if there are fire restriction in effect so its kind of an end all be all solution. Using the Fireant with a wood as fuel surprised me in the fact of how efficient the stove not only burned the wood down to ashes but how well it transferred the heat up to the cooking vessel, I was able to bring water to a boil faster in cold conditions using kindling sized wood sticks than I was using either the compressed fuel bars or the alcohol burner in moderate conditions. It is simple to get your fire going with very little tinder and kindling and once you have a nice bed of coals you can start feeding bigger fuel wood through the side port. The titanium takes on a beautiful anodized color with use, and it also cools down quickly which is great for day hikes when you just want to cook up a quick meal or beverage. The only negatives I can think of are that if you're using wood you do have to tend the stove a little bit but really you should be tending any fire you make. Sometimes with really dry seasoned wood the fire trickles down the fuel wood when your are feeding it from the side port but it helps if you keep the port door pretty full. If you are like me though tending a wood burning fire is part of the outdoor/bushcraft allure and I find it relaxing. The Fireant is also really compact so I is not the best solution for cooking/boiling for more than two people. I am very satisifed with the performance of this little stove and for backpacking/hiking trips it is a perfect companion. It is also made in the USA and that means something to me.
