No this is not coast guard approved

Q: Does this have a warranty? I gave this as a gift and it broke within a month.

You'll have to contact the manufacturer for any warranty but I don't believe there was one

Q: Would it work for sledding?

Not sure. It could potentially rip durring sledding.
