Awesome pilot Hi-tec-C mechanical pencil
I was a little concerned about the mechanical pencil for the pilot Hi-tec-C coleto pen, all other mechanical pencils seems to need a complexed system to work. then I got it in the mail and it didn't look like much, where did the lead refil go? How will it advance when I need it to? Well, all my fears were laid to rest once I installed it. The pencil worked, there is an engagement spot on the lower end of the throw that allows for the lead to advance and once you are done advancing the lead it pops back in place but not all the way so the pencil stays out and not retract into the pen. To hide the pencil to have to give it a in and up flick just like the ink cartridges. The head is bigger than the ink ones but that is understandable cause of its "dual action." I would causion that you don't try to pull out the wrong end, the intructions are in Japanese but have small drawing to reference, the end that pulls out to replace the refil 0.5mm leads in the tip section so don't pull on the other end, i tried and almost broke it. All in all its a great addition to your pen, now I can get rid of my other mechanical pencils, and just have my Coleto pen with a varied colors to chose from and a pencil all rolled into one.

The plastic end where the pencil lead comes out is easy to pull out
Look delicate but really works. The barrel and the clicker feels loose by design. The plastic end where the pencil lead comes out is easy to pull out. I was able to put 4 pencil leads into the barrel at a time and keep it functioning fine. After putting the loaded pencil into the slot, the first click gets the pencil head to show up. Then, click again to advance the lead. Very easy to use (if you don't overthink it!).

Great pencil for the Hi-Tech-Coleto
I bought the 0.5 pencil. It works great. I use it in my planner.

It's not broken ;)
Thought it was broken when I 1st got it but then I saw a video on how to insert it and it is not broken so don't worry if you get it and it looks "off". Once it's inserted it works as expected.

Slightly flawed solution to all in one pen
It works- it gives you a pencil on your Coleto. I considered giving it 4 stars, but a couple of things bother me from a more aesthetic perspective. First, the "button" that stick out of the top of the pen that allows you to extend the unit and then the lead is 2-3x bigger than the ones for the pen refills. It also an ugly grey., Second the unit rattles in the pen- the ink refills don't. So if you are looking to create an all-in-one multipen, the unit works and is a good solution. If you will be bother by the aesthetics and rattling, pass.

I wish BIC had thought of this...
This is the ONE thing the BIC 4-color pens don't have. Though small and flimsy, it will do the job if you have it already mounted in you Hi-Tec-C Coleto pen and need a #2 pencil to fill in a scan-sheet right away.
