Borrago #47 Paloma Blend Non-Alcoholic Spirit 50cl

Judging by the other love/hate reviews posted, Borrago seems to be the Marmite of alcohol-free gins. With the majority, I'm a lover, a Borrago and tonic in a proper glass with lots of ice has become a welcome evening treat in place of the usual sugary alcohol-free suspects which after 16 years of sobriety have really begun to grate. The spirit is complex, spicy and has a heft to it, and I prefer it to the rather blander Caleño. Added to the grown-up feel of the whole ritual is a quality glass bottle with an attractive label. It comes very well and intelligently packaged, with the bonuses of a cocktail recipe book, a card to give to your local gin palace to suggest they stock it, and a pack of borage seeds. Chacun à son gout, but I personally can't really see how this warrants the few dismissive 1 star reviews it has picked up: hence this 5 star review to get the batting average up. The producers of this great drink should be encouraged, and I hope they have further concoctions in the pipeline. It also be nice if they could do a discount for a case....

A bit too lemony for me.

This is just the BEST non-alcoholic spirit I've tried. I like a number of them but at heart I am a gin devotee and so I have very high expectations! This product is just excellent in every respect. The bottle is beautiful and the recipe books are a really nice addition. But most of all the FLAVOUR is out of this world! I really love the different notes and aromas and it is divine with tonic and ice and lemon. It is a really sophisticated tipple, and I am completely in love with it!

Completely different from anything Ive tried before. Adds lovely taste to tonic but definitely dont use a lot as its strong. Lovely little surprises included in the box too!

A delicious, refreshing, dry, non alcoholic "spirit" and a great alternative to Gin and Tonic. It is great as an aperitif or with savoury food, perfect if you are driving or just want some time off the booze.

I really wanted to like this but it was just revolting! Even the tiniest splash in the glass with plenty of tonic wasn't drinkable. It's far too powerfully floral, like drinking perfume. I'm sure it's just a matter of taste and some people would really like it, but this wasn't for me at all. It's nothing at all like gin so if you're looking for something that's close in flavour to a real gin and tonic, I wouldn't recommend this.

I first tried this Borrago non-alcoholic gin in a restaurant a couple of years ago. I was convinced I wasn't going to like it. But Borrago seems to have the right blend of spices and aromatic flavours for me, that I do feel as though I am having a "Grown Up" drink. So I ordered a bottle straight away from Amazon and then a few months later a second one. I have tried other non-alcoholic gins and often they are just too insipid and I end up only tasting the mixer I put with it.The best part for me, is being able to have an adult drink with my alcohol drinking friends. I feel much more sophisticated drinking it, rather than drinking fizzy soft drinks that are designed for children really. I have even managed to convert a couple of friends to trying it rather than their usual Gin and they are now converts themselves.I usually drink it with tonic water, ice and a slice of lemon but for a special occasion I have made a few alcoholic cocktails with it. Delicious!
