The authors have devoted an immense amount of time to make the material interesting and well organized. The diagrams and pictures are clear and colored. The tables and charts are clear. There are boxes that go into depth about certain topics. The text is 1200 pages and is packed with excellent information about the finer details of the elements, covalent bonds, and the quantum mechanics of molecular orbitals. I hold a B.S. in Chemistry from U.C. Berkeley but went into medicine for 35 years. Now retired I find my desire for chemistry is stronger than ever and I am thoroughly enjoying this text. It is for the upper division under graduate who has had general chemistry and the basic organic chemistry courses. I do not remember much of Calculus so some of the problems I can not do, but it is not essential. The material is so well explained that the math can be left alone. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to know more about how chemistry works at the atomic and molecular level. Review: Useful for undergraduate and graduate chemists - This edition somewhat lacks the clarity that made the Second so excellent. The Second Edition could be read and largely assimilated by the undergraduate. However, the book compensates with industrially important and leading-edge topics, which will make it more useful to the graduate (postgraduate) student and industrial chemist, but slightly less useful as an undergraduate text when compared with the earlier editions - there will be a temptation to use it as a reference rather than assimilate the whole. However, it remains an excellent textbook for the learning undergraduate.

Covers what you would expect from an academic text but also has a practical and engaging side. A valuable addition to an undergraduate's library.

The book comes in a coloured edition and the paper quality is good but the you can see the text over through the page. I dont know why this happened to me or the seller has sold me the counterfeit version because when I opened the book the printing address is not given in the book which even further solidified my speculations that it is indeed a counterfeit book. But anyways the content is very good which is gievn and explained in detail. Good for various exams.

Book is suitable for both undergraduate and graduate level. It's significantly more well-organized than the third version.
